This may seem impossible to do, you may think you are not able to this, but who really wants to be vulnerable. I can say it’s hard even to open all to your best friend, counselor, or anyone else in your life.
Let’s face it, who actually wants everyone to see the dirt or careless treatment you or someone else did to your spirit. Like the little box its value is not only on the outside, but open it up and inside is valuables hidden away. Isaiah 45:3 ” I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.” When we open the our treasure box which we hide so much, do we just toss things around sometimes not finding them useful. Instead we should gather what’s in the box whether if its good, not important to you, broken, ill-fitted, meaningless to you, not shinning enough.
Who is this Lord? who has given us hidden treasures, let’s go seek him and the treasures he is talking about together. Let’s look at the first item and hold it up, inspect it; ask the Lord what do you see that I can’t see? Why is this in my treasure box anyway? Is this good, can I say it’s fruitful to my life, does it bear any sweet taste of the 9 fruits of the Spirit. If it doesn’t ask the Lord to help you with it. Is it to be kept and cultivated by him. John 15:2 ” He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”
When you ask God why is this in my box anyway, he says Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” He created us prepared us beforehand so he put that in us, that we may need.
You may say what about the broken stuff? God takes that cracked and broken vessel and works through each part that needs mending. He applies his love and uses every crack brokenness for his glory. Just think of that, the broken part you thought was useless is used for Glory. I want to share this Story “Cracked Pot”:
An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.
One of the pots had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.
But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.
‘I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.’
The old woman smiled, ‘Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot’s side?’
‘That’s because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.’
For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.
Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.’
Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it’s the cracks and flaws weeach have that make our lives together so very interesting andrewarding.
Never underestimate what can be used by God. When something may be meaningless, it may shine brighter than you expect.
